Various libraries need to translate particle ID's to and from the standard Particle Data Group numbering scheme. HepPID is a small library to provide C++ translation methods. These methods are free functions which take an int as the argument and return the translated int.

Although HepPID is distributed as part of the HepPDT package, it is a separate library and can be used without any of the ParticleData overhead. HepPID is now being maintained at the CERN Savannah website.
